Chase Blog Tour

I am so happy I got asked to participate in this tour. I loved this book and enjoyed every minute of it. SO let's get started and meet the authors of Chase.

I drink too much, Swear too much, and Read too much. I don't have a filter, and I tend to speak before I think.

I live in Alberta Canada.
I have an amazing pain in the ass husband, and two little girls.
I have a huge love of reading. I've been a beta reader, and helped a few authors edit. On top of those things, because I don't plan to give them up, I figured it was time to take the leap and write a book.
It wouldn't be possible without my girl Chantal!!!

I'm 26 and a mother of three beautiful little boys.

I've been happily married since I was 18 and live in Western Australia.
I love to read and write; I'm a dreamer.
Chase is my debut novel, written with my friend Dawn.

Moving in with a guy you only met once? Stupid.

But for student Layla Crawford, this was reality.
Chase Jackson is a renowned playboy and self professed commitment phobe, that is until he meets Layla.
Blinded by his intensity to have her, Chase will stop at nothing to make her his.
With a jealous ex and old conquests repeatedly making appearances, Chase' s skeletons come out of the closet one by one, each one pushing Layla further and further away.
Layla is determined to keep her distance. Chase now has to convince the only woman he has ever wanted that he is worth the gamble.

Guest Post/Diary entry from Layla:
Layla: Chase and I had an instant connection, I can't even explain it. I guess romantics might call it love at first sight. I don't know what it was exactly. Instant chemistry. A spark. For me, Chase was it. Imperfections and all. Chase shows me a side of him not many people will ever see. He is loving, generous and kind. He is everything I have ever wanted in a man. An alpha male, a leader, a protector and a provider. My initial thoughts of chase was that he was hot and intense, and I wanted him, anyway I could get him. Because even one taste would be better than nothing.

My Review:
I loved Chase and his brothers so much! I desperately NEED Kade’s story now so I can see what happens next with these Totally Sexy Brothers.

Layla is looking for an apartment close to college and she has already looked at a few when she goes and sees a room for rent in Kade and James house. She agrees to move in with them and the landlord even though she hasn’t met him. Layla and the brothers hit it off instantly and become great friends. One night out with her best friend Nikki, she meets Chase and they have a strong connection. Chase asks to take Layla home but she ends up falling asleep in his car so he takes her to his house. She wakes up the next morning to go home and when she walks out of his room she sees that it’s her house. She is completely mortified by this and runs to her room. But she can’t deny the feelings she has for Chase. Chase talks Layla into taking a chance on him and she agrees. But his playboy ways start coming up constantly and Layla struggles to handle his past especially when his past keeps getting shoved in her face. Can Layla look past all the secrets, and playboy ways to keep the man she is in love with?

As I stated in the beginning I love Chase and his brothers Kade and James so much. Never have I been so drawn to three men in a book and wanted to trade places with a character so badly. I can’t even begin to pick which brother I love more. Layla is one lucky girl to have all three of them in her corner. I can’t remember the last time I wanted to reach into a book and shake or slap a character(s) so bad. And I can’t tell you why without giving you spoilers but trust me when I say this is an emotional roller coaster ride. One minute I am laughing, the next I am so infuriated, then I want to cry. But through it all Chase grabbed my heart with his fight to do anything and everything to keep the one woman who has warmed his heart and changed his life for the better. 5/5 Bloody Fangs

Teaser from book 2 Kade:

“Hey Kade,” I mumble, as I walk into Layla’s house. Kade narrows his eyes on me silently. He is leaning against the kitchen table, bare-chested, pouring himself a cup of coffee. He looks edible.

I clear my throat. I feel so vulnerable right now, and it is taking all of my will power not to run. But I want Kade, I want this. So I need to suck it up.
“Layla’s not here,” He deadpans.
I know, actually I wanted to talk to you,” I tell him in a soft voice.
He raises his eyebrows.
“I’m sorry I’ve been avoiding you, the truth is…” I trail off. The truth is after a week of thinking, running, and hiding; I have decided I want this man. I want to take a chance on him. He’s not Ben. And I’m sick of being a coward.
“The truth is, I’m scared Kade. But I want to try, I want you,” I say as I walk up to him and wrap my arms around his waist.
“If you still want me?” I whisper in a soft voice.
His arms tighten around me. “Fuck, Nikki,” he says in a hoarse voice.
“Kade, come back to bed,” A high pitched voice coos from behind us. Kade’s fingers dig into my skin, and his whole body stiffens.
I turn and see a half-naked woman walk out, only in her bra and panties. It takes me a moment to realize exactly what’s going on. It’s not like I expected Kade to be celibate, but, well fuck. I don’t know what I thought, it just hurts.
“You need to leave Kelly,” Kade demands.
“Don’t bother,” I say, my voice small. I push away from Kade and walk to the front door.
“Nikki, wait!” he calls out, storming after me.
“Kade!” Kelly whines, grabbing onto his arm. I see Kade glance down at the woman in disgust.
Kade lifts his head, our eyes connecting.
His eyes are pleading.
Mine are vacant.
When our eyes lock, I see him flinch. Fuck him.
I open the door, and walk out.
I know I shouldn’t be upset. We had no commitment, and he made me no promises. But still, it hurts. Just when I was about to let him in, something like this happens. Maybe it was a sign.
When I get home my phone starts ringing. It’s Kade. I hit ignore.
Then I get the text messages.
K- Answer your phone
K – Nikki, if you don’t answer I will show up.
N- Stop calling me, stop texting me. I was stupid to think we could try this.
K- We can try this Nikki. What did you think would happen when you kept avoiding me?
N – I’m going to bed.
K- Tomorrow. We will talk. Goodnight.
I don’t bother replying.

ReVamped Blog Tour

Everybody knows how much I love vampire books so when I got asked to be on this tour I jumped at the chance and I am so glad I did. I loved this book so much that I can't wait to go buy book 2 and read it. On my stop there is a spotlight, my review, and awesome giveaway. So let's get started and meet the author Ada.

“Many people sing in the shower. I write scenes in my head and act them out.”

As a writer and an actress, Ada spends most of her days immersed in imaginary worlds. Much like the kick-butt female characters she enjoys writing about, Ada is a martial artist with a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate. She is also a big proponent of lifelong learning and has attained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (it aids in creating characters with unique quirks!) as well as a Masters of Science in Education.

Ada began her writing career at the age of three with a string of short stories that only a mother could love, and has been inventing quirky characters and imaginary worlds ever since. She is an editor-in-chief of VEUX Magazine (www.veuxmag.com) and a passionate advocate for the arts. A self-proclaimed book and TV junkie, she also loves animals, chocolate, and bubble tea.

Ada lives in Toronto, Canada. When she's not writing, you can find her on an adventurous nature hike with her puppies, Caramilk and Oreo. Or, more likely, deep in a jar of Nutella...

A simple mission turned deadly.

Nineteen-year-old vampire Dawn has led a sheltered life within the confines of her father’s presidential headquarters. Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true. What starts off as a simple task, turns into something unexpected, changing Dawn’s life forever and leading the action-loving, thrill-seeking vampire teen on a path of mystery, danger and intrigue.

When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.

My Review:
Ada’s series starts off with a bang and doesn’t let go until the last page and even then she leaves you wanting more of her world and the vampires who live in it.

Dawn is the born vampire daughter of the vampire president. She has been sheltered all her life while getting the best teaching in everything from history to combat training. But when her dad send her on her very first mission to Angel Creek to train new vampire guardians to watch over the city he thinks it will be an easy and quick assignment. But it becomes clear quickly that Dawn is being hunted since she is so special but who is hunting her and why? Dawn will need all the help she can get if she plans to stay alive and find out who is hunting her.

The world Ada has created with her vampires is so unique. She has them living along side humans peacefully, where they are worshipped by them. Sounds like it can’t work but Ada pulls this off so well. Not to mention there are two types of vampires in her world the made and the born. If your one of the few born vampires, you are special and rare. I loved this concept as I think it’s very fresh and new vampire lore.

If you love strong kick ass heroines then you will love Dawn. She is defiantly on my top list of favorite heroines for 2013. For being only nineteen she is strong which made me forget her age in the book. But for as strong as she is there is a vulnerability to her also which makes it easy to connect with her. Her two love interests are as different as night and day. Ethan is suave and wants nothing more then to protect Dawn every chance he can. Where Sebastian is the dark bad boy we all know has a sweet side that just makes us love him even more. It was so hard for to pick who I loved more. But as secrets and pasts are revealed I found myself routing for Sebastian more and more.

Ada’s debut novel that is filled with romance, humor, action, secrets, and unexpected twists that pull the rug out from under you and leaving you with your mouth hanging open. This book will have you running out to buy book two immediately just so you can get lost in this world. 5/5 Bloody Fangs

Becoming a vampire guardian was Dawn Fairchild’s ticket out of the Scarlet House. Fresh off a successful mission, life in Angel Creek should have been great. But when her sort-of-maybe-boyfriend, Sebastian, disappears on a quest to help a beautiful vampire from his past, Dawn finds herself amidst a web of danger, lies, and deceit.

Joining forces with Razor, an enigmatic rebel lacking both a verbal and a physical filter, and her band of Misfits—Brooke, Sophie, Hunter, and Seth—Dawn is thrust into a race against the clock to solve the mystery surrounding brutal Born kidnappings and come to terms with the sudden discovery of her own unique powers. With time ticking away and Born vampires’ lives in jeopardy, it quickly becomes evident that someone—orsomething—desperately wants Dawn and is willing to shed any amount of blood to get her.

Dawn has only one chance to face her demons and overcome all obstacles standing in her way as she embarks on the biggest mission of her life—one that threatens a deadly outcome for all involved.

The Edge Of Darkness Blog Tour

I am so honored to be in this tour. I adore Melissa and her books are amazing. So let's get started and meet Melissa.

I find it hard to sum up my

life in a paragraph, but I’ll try.

I am the author of Flutter, The Discover Series! Reading

has always been a passion for me, and writing as instinctive as breathing.

Every inhale is an idea; every exhale a creation.  The only thing I do better than writing you ask? Making beautiful girls. My daughter’s will always be my greatest accomplishment.

I was born in Denver, Colorado–but I will always think of sunny Arizona

as my home. I don’t have a big family, but I’m close with my sister, brother

& my mom. My mom is my hero, my inspiration, and I couldn’t have asked for a

more amazing person to be raised by.

4 things you should know about me: I’m very girly, but I can get down and dirty

with the best of them. I adore the color pink and things that sparkle

(including vampires), I am a firm believer that chocolate cures ALL and I like

even numbers (hence 4 things about me, not 5) Okay, maybe I cheated a little

with my list, shhhh.

Together they will learn what it’s like to feel alive for the first time.

At the edge of darkness, a ray of light, will dare them both to HOPE.

DARE them to LOVE

DARE them to LIVE

My Review:

Once again I am in complete awe of Melissa’s ability to paint a picture with her words and shatter my soul into a million pieces from the emotion she brings fourth from her characters.

Araya looses everything in the blink of an eye. After being in a tragic car accident there is no light in her dark world. She is moved in with her aunt who despises her and treats her like garbage. Araya is not living she is only getting by that is until a chance encounter with Ryland. Ryland is the all American boy he has lives in a fancy house, has money, nice cars, etc. But once you look through the doors you see his world is anything buy perfect. His parents don’t love him or his siblings and the only person who does care for them is the house keeper Annie. When two people are living in darkness start to fall in love and see the light will it be enough when secrets come out and lives are shattered all over again.

I know I can’t due this book justice but I am going to try. I loved everything about this book and the emotional turmoil that I was put through thanks to Melissa and they way she writes. She just has a way with pulling you in from page one that has you on the edge of your seat the whole time you’re reading her books. Araya has become my favorite female character of the year and yes I know it’s only June. But once you meet her you will understand why I am making this statement. She is so much stronger then she knows and she made me laugh, cry, and fall in love right along with her. Ryland is just amazingly awesome. He is everything I love in a hero even when he doesn’t think he’s the hero. He is strong, smart, protective, sweet, and loves so fiercely that he had me holding my breath just waiting for the moment he would finally tell Araya that he loved her.  When they both moved out of the darkness into the light with each other it just grabbed my heart and soul. I can honestly say that this is my favorite read of 2013. The story and characters will stay with me long after today as they have touched me down into very soul. All I can say is I desperately need book two now! Please Melissa write faster so I can see what happens because that ending literally shattered my soul something no author has ever done. If I could I would give this more then 5/5 Bloody Fangs wait this is my blog so I can and I will. 10/10 Bloody Fangs

Guest Post:

If you could change places with any of your characters for a day, who would it be and why?

My daughter and I have had this very discussion. We both agree we are not sure we could be as brave as Zeke and stay in this house. I think I’d have been so terrified and would have gone to a motel until I got things worked out. There’s no way I would have been able to sleep! And walking out to the well … no way! My first encounter with the ghosts, I’d have ran all the way back to town!
That being said, how COOL would it be to receive this inheritance? This house is amazing. The land is beautiful. A Cadillac Escalade, come on! ’57 Harley! Really? No more financial worry. A chance to start over and do things differently.
Doesn’t everybody dream of winning the Lottery?
Yeah, I’d love to be Zeke for a day. The added bonus for Zeke was discovering a lineage and gaining insight into people he had not understood before. That would be awesome. I know I personally would love to be able to understand stuff from my childhood that remains a mystery to me to this day. Many things have been taken to graves. Oh well, I suppose on the other side of eternity it will all be revealed and understanding will be my gift.
If you think about it, I was Zeke for many months. That’s the way I write. I submerge my mind into the character so that I can write about their doings. I hope the results are a more realistic character. Perhaps, that is WHY I write. I get to be much braver than I really am. I get to do fun, adventurous things, while I’m safely tucked in my own home. How cool is that? Really?

Zeke Clay is down on his luck. He’s lost everything—an apartment, an education, a girlfriend, his job…

When a mysterious letter comes from a law firm in Colorado, he decides things just might be looking up. Now he stands to inherit a fortune, but it comes with a price. He must break a family curse and restore true love. What does he know about breaking a curse? And who is this Great Uncle Luther Clayton, who claims Zeke is the one? Can he piece together the clues left by his dearly departed?

Who can he trust? The Apache Indian attorney? Her great nephew? The leather-clad, Harley riding Pastor? Least of all, himself?

What about the Ghosts?

…And why does his three-year-old tattoo bleed every time he gets near the wishing well?

Excerpt:
Zeke merged onto Hwy 71 East. He needed to find a truck stop and settle in for the night. He stared at the sedan in front of him. Suddenly, the car fish-tailed, it spun a full three-sixty and crossed two lanes. He slowed his car and eased over to the shoulder. As the sedan careened into the soft shoulder it began to flip end over end and skid on its side through the grass and weeds. It slid into a water-filled ditch and rolled over onto its top as it disappeared into the black, murky water.
“Oh my God! Oh my God!” Zeke shouted as he jumped from his car.
Circular waves radiated from where the car had landed. He blinked against the acrid stench at the water’s edge and waited. Where was the driver? No bubbles. Nobody broke the surface. Nothing.
“OH MY GOD!” He had to go in that God-awful water. He had to help. He wasn’t licensed. He wasn’t legally obligated and yet—he was. He gingerly stepped into the water. His Doc Martens were fine for greasy floors. Not so great in slimy mud. He slipped and fell backward. Black mud oozed between his fingers as he fought for purchase. When he tried to stand up, he slid down to his thighs. Putrid water soaked into his clothes and splashed up toward his face. Nothing in clinicals had ever smelled this bad. Maneuvering himself best he could toward the center of the ditch, he reached for the car. When his hand touched metal, he took a deep breath and sunk underwater.
Submerged in the green-black water, he could not see. It was disorienting. He found a door handle and pulled it open. Reaching inside, he felt the steering wheel. He concentrated on finding the driver. When his hand reached a potential body, he dug into whatever material he could and pulled with all his might. Something held it tightly in place. The seat belt.
Zeke’s lungs felt ready to burst. He pushed back away from the car and rose to the surface. After he sucked in a deep breath, he returned to the open door. With his fingers, he found the seatbelt latch, and pushed and squeezed until it finally released. Once again, he dug fingers into a shirt and pulled with all his might. This time the guy came with him. The bottom of his shoes slipped against the slimy ditch wall. He fell back against the sedan.
Oh, Jesus. Please help me. He shoved himself away from the car. Somehow his shoes took hold and he pulled the limp body along with him. One step at a time, he dragged himself and the guy until they were both on the grass.
The man lay motionless. Zeke scanned the darkening highway. No cars. No headlights. He pressed two fingers on the guy’s carotid artery. No pulse. He put his ear on the guy’s chest. No heartbeat. And he definitely wasn’t breathing.
“I’ve only done this on Sim-Sam—but I know what I’m doing.” He intertwined his fingers, one hand over the other, and started pumping the chest while counting. “One-one thousand, Two-one thousand, Three-one thousand, Four-one thousand…”
Dusk faded to night. Where was everybody? Why wasn’t somebody coming? “God, please, help me.”
Why he was even saying that at all? Desperate times, desperate measures. Nonetheless, he kept counting and hoping.
Shimmering lights appeared on the horizon. He squinted and prayed they’d stop.

My Review:
Zeke’s life has not been so good he lost his girlfriend, his job, and college plans all within days of each other. But his uncle passes away leaving him a fortune however to get it he has to break the wishing well curse.

This is not my normal type of paranormal book. There is religion in this book that is blended in with the paranormal. It’s not easy to mold those two aspects but Lynn does a good job even with her bending of the ghosts and bible. However I did have an issue with the main character Zeke. For some reason I just couldn’t connect to him which caused issues for me while reading. But with that said I did enjoy the other characters especially the Harley riding leather wearing pastor. You just don’t see that and I just loved him. The story line is written so well and I enjoyed all the other characters that I was able to look past my issues with Zeke and truly enjoy this book. 3/5 Bloody Fangs
