Wicked Fate by Tabatha Vargo Blog Tour

Tabatha has been writing since she could pick up a pencil. Her first publication was a little poem in her elementary school paper, from that point on she was hooked. When she was a teenager, she traded in her girly magazines for personalized writing notebooks.

At nineteen, she met her own personal prince charming and writing took a back burner for a while. She is now married to that prince and the mother of a beautiful Six year old princess/rock star. Once her daughter was born, writing came back into her life, and she finished her very first novel in May of 2009.

She is pursuing a Bachelors in English and hopes to one day teach while continuing to write.

As a stay-at-home mom and full-time student, Tabatha enjoys the freedom of spending a good bit of her days doing what she loves the most…writing.

What if you lived in fear of yourself?

For Mage McPherson being afraid of herself is just the norm. Thanks to that fear, being a loner in a small town never bothered the mysterious Mage. Once she received her secret abilities, she figured being alone was the safest way to be. That all changes during her sophomore year at Summerville High when Adam, her equally mysterious secret crush, starts to notice her.

Afraid that she might harm Adam, Mage must learn to either control or deny herself. With Adam by her side she's more powerful than she’s ever been, but is she powerful enough to defeat her worst nightmare? She learns a hard lesson about love and magic when her destiny comes to collect.

Excerpt:
When I’m doing homework, reading journals, or relaxing in the gardens, I wonder to myself if Adam misses me as much as I miss him.
My answer arrives a few days later. It’s Saturday and, of course, I’m in the library with Thaddeus. I hear a loud knock at the door. There’s a little man at the door with a bouquet of pink camellias and red carnations. It’s a strange looking bouquet.
I sign a delivery confirmation and then I take the flowers. The delivery man also hands me a gift. It’s wrapped in purple and silver wrapping paper. I can tell by looking at it that it’s a book of some sort. I can also tell by the wrapping paper that it’s from Adam. He’s the only person who cared enough at one point to know my favorite color. Anything he’s sent from that point on was either purple or wrapped in purple.
I thank the delivery man and sit on the closest couch in the front living room. I lift the flowers and breathe them in. I feel my heart constrict with the thought that Adam might actually be thinking about me.
I sit the flowers down on the couch beside me and begin to rip at the wrapping paper on the gift. It’s a book, a strange looking old book. The book’s called The Language of Flowers. I flip through a few pages and realize right away the subject content of the book. It’s a listing of different flowers and what they mean. Adam’s trying to communicate with me the only way he knows how without having to worry about breaking his deal with Eris.
I quickly flip through the book to the page with camellias and carnations on it. When I read what’s on the page I clasp the book to my chest and breathe deeply. It feels so good to know what Adam’s really thinking. I look at the page of the book once more.

Camellia (Pink) = Longing for you…
Carnation (Red) = My heart aches for you…

His heart aches for me! He misses me too! My thoughts are going crazy. Should I go to him or should I just take this for what it is and leave it be?
I wanted nothing more than to run to his house and throw my arms around him. I miss him so much and to know that he misses me too is enough to make me float. I pick up my flowers and hold them to my nose to smell them once more.

My Review:
I was drawn into this book by the cover but what is inside is even better and had me staying up late into the night to finish.

Mage is different and is the loner/freak of her school. They all fear her and Mage fears herself due to special abilities. But all that changes when a new girl moves to town and tries to become friends with Mage and the boy Adam she has always crushed on is now paying attention to her. Bernie and Adam immediately become very important to Mage and she thinks things are looking up but then Mage starts having nightmares or what she thinks are nightmares. Mage’s power become stronger and she has to work through the riddles of her nightmares and her past. But she doesn’t know if she can handle it all.

I loved Mage so much and connected to her right away. She has been though so much and she is getting ready to turn only 16 years old. I loved watching her growth through the whole book. She is so much stronger then she gives herself credit. Adam I don’t even know where to begin with him. He is just swoon worthy and just plain amazing. I loved watching his and Mage’s relationship. His loyalty to Mage is breath taking. He always seen the real Mage and loved her for herself.

Tabatha writes this story so well that you feel like you’re in the book with these characters feeling everything they feel. There are not many books I have read that have done this to me. I found myself laughing, crying, blushing, and just loving every minute of this amazing book. Tabatha is defiantly an author to add to you must buy list. I am anxiously waiting for book two to see what happens next. 5/5 Bloody Fangs

Thank you to Tabatha for letting me review your amazing book and for letting me participate in this blog tour.

And now for the Cover Reveal:

Eighteen-year-old Araina was your normal teenager or at least she believed that to be true. She had only two things on her mind: graduating high school and getting away from home to start a life all on her own. But after a tragic accident claims the life of her mother, Araina is left dumbfounded and finds herself on a much different path: enrolling in the local college in Austin. Convinced that her mother’s death was no accident, she becomes obsessed with finding out the truth, and becomes disconnected from everything around her in the process.
That is … until she meets Lucca.
Lucca is the captain of the Resistance: an elite group sworn to protect Araina. He knows the truth about her mother’s death and the future attempts that will be made on Araina’s life due to her being the great-granddaughter of Leto, mother of Artemis and Apollo, which is why it is important he follow the one rule given to him: Don’t get too attached.
It is his job to gain her trust and somehow reveal her true lineage and what the fates have in store for her. Araina is about to be thrown into a world she never knew and will have to come to terms with the role she will play in the Resistance.
Will she stand up and fight or will she lose the one thing everyone has been trying to protect?
Her Life.

Excerpt:

He walked the path back to the house they were using as their headquarters at the moment; though it wasn’t much on the outside the inside made up plenty for it. As he walked in through the door he stopped and looked to the right to stare at his own reflection. Heavy bags hung under his eyes, his tan skin was much duller and his black hair a mess.
“You need to get rest. Huntir and I have everything set up so take this opportunity to gather your strength. Wearing yourself out like this will not be beneficial in guarding her.”
Lucca turned to his older brother Matteo, surprised that he had arrived so soon. “I know, I will go take a shower and get rest, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.” He passed Matteo but not before laying his hand on his brother's shoulder as if silently reassuring him not to worry and that he was fine. Though his brother had pointed out his need for rest, his mind was running around with too many unanswered questions with no way to solve them. But one question he kept going back to was always the same, the one that would matter most in the end.
When he finally reveals the truth to her will she rise from her sorrow and be the savior they needed her to be? Or will she turn away and go into hiding like her mother did and suffer the same fate? As he got to the top of the stairs, without turning around he asked, “Why did you arrive ahead of schedule brother?” he waited for his brother to reply, a heavy silence floated between the two. He did not expect the next few words that came out of his brother’s mouth.
“We have verification on who killed Aella.”

How gorgeous is this cover? I can not wait to read it Resisting Fate from this excerpt. I wanna say Thank You to Ashley and Jaidis for letting me participate in this cover reveal.

Reviving Bloom Blog Tour

Michelle is a 28 year old native Ohioan. Go Buckeyes! She lives with her husband and son. When she isn't spending time with her family or working you can find her with her nose stuck in a good book. On October 3, 2012 she released her first book as an independent author, Reviving Bloom.

Bloom was abandoned by her mother at birth, but thanks to her dad she never once felt unloved. When he is killed in a car wreck, leaving her without any close family, she spends a year mourning him. Her heart has been cut out of her chest and nothing is left but an empty hole that she doesn’t think will ever heal. Then one night after work she finds a wounded dog in the woods behind her house and takes him in, not realizing he’s more than just some stray dog but a wolf shifter, who happens to be her mate.

Pike is getting over the loss of his father by running full force away from his responsibilities. He’s getting ready to go back to face his new position as the Alpha of his pack when he catches the scent that can only belong to his mate.

When Bloom finds out she may not be the normal human she always thought herself to be, she’s forced to search out the woman who abandoned her at birth.

Excerpt:
“Pike, I’m far from perfect,” I sigh, hiding my face back behind the door under the pretense of gathering the cooking supplies. I hear him hop down seconds before I feel his arms wrap around my waist.
His lips pressed to my ear and he whispers, “In my opinion you’re perfect and anyone that disagrees will have to answer to me.” Moving his mouth farther down to the crook in my neck he breathes, “Though you should know this little freckle right here might be the reason you are so perfect.” Then he takes my breath away by planting those deliciously kissable lips right on that freckle. I grab the counter in front of me and slam my eyes closed, praying for him to only move those lips if he’s going to take them from my neck to put them on my mouth, and for the first time since this madness began I thank the lord he can read my thoughts because he spins me around and gives me exactly what I was praying for.
He starts gently but when I throw my arms around his neck digging my fingers into his raven hair his lips become demanding and I part my lips so he can join his tongue with mine. We can’t get close enough, can’t get enough, and in that moment I feel fairly certain I’ll never be able to get enough of this man in my arms. His kisses taste sweeter than hot chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, and hot fudge sundaes combined.

My Review:
I was so excited to read a book with a sexy wolf shifter in it and Michelle did not disappointment me.

Bloom was abandoned by her mother at birth but she always had her dad until he died in a car wreck. Feeling like her heart had been ripped out of her chest and all alone she spends time mourning him. Then one night in the woods behind her home she finds what she thinks is a stray wounded dog but he is so much more. Bloom takes him in to help him but she finds out that Pike is not only a wolf shifter but her mate as well running from his pack after the loss of his father. Bloom is forced to realize she might not be the normal human she always thought she was and needs to look into her past and find her mom.

I loved Bloom so much and I was able to connect with her from the start. She is a lot stronger then she gives herself credit for. Dealing with such a loss and finding out she is not what she always thought makes her so much stronger. And Pike what’s not to love about a strong sexy alpha were shifter. I want him all for myself. The chemistry between Bloom and Pike is so sweet and I just loved it.

If your looking for a book with romance, mystery, humor, and HOT SEXY shifters then read Reviving Bloom. I can not wait to read more from Michelle Turner. She is on my must buy list. 5/5 Bloody Fangs

Thankful Book Lovers

Today I have 3 authors that I love and adore on my blog to tell us their 10 things they are grateful for. I will also be telling you my 10 things. At the end of this post there will be links to the other blogs participating so make sure you check them out to see what authors they have and what they are grateful for this Holiday season.

Cat Miller:

1. I'm thankful for my family and my kids. They are the reason I work, write, cook, clean, and get out of bed everyday. No matter how successful I become in life I would never feel fulfilled without my family to share it with me.
2. I'm deeply thankful for my friends on blogs like this one and the book pages on Facebook who supported this completely unknown indie author from the very beginning. For that I will forever be grateful.
3. I'm thankful for the love of reading and the urge to write that brings me daily joy.
4. I'm thankful for Starbucks! Without my cafe mocha nothing would ever get done.
5. I am thankful for the differences between my daughters. Where one is calm the other is hyper. Where one is free spirit the other needs order. One has brown eyes and the other has blue. They are perfect in their own way and their differences make them extraordinary young ladies.
6. I'm thankful to have a man that supports my love of writing and encourages me to follow my dreams.
7. I'm thankful for the mistakes I made in my writing career. I have learned so much and grown with every trial I have faced and conquered.
8. I'm thankful for Facebook. Without it I would have missed out on some of the best friendships I've ever had.
9. I'm thankful for the hot men the roll across my news feed. They brighten my every day. Thanks to everyone who posts them.
10. I'm thankful for my recently purchased heated throw blanket. Who ever decided making my favorite blanket in miniature (I think of it as fun sized) was a good idea is a genius.

Shannon Delany:

I’m thankful for a lot of things (and people! Have you seen my Acknowledgments?). Here are the first ten that spring to mind.

I’m thankful for:
1.) Being raised in a family that valued creativity, education, and faith.
2.) Being able to attend college without having to worry about repaying huge school loans because my parents scrimped and saved and sacrificed for us.
3.) Being in a loving and supportive family of my own making even though I never envisioned myself getting married or having children.
4.) Being able to occasionally travel and explore (and talk to readers and writers!) and share my love of that with my husband and son.
5.) Being a published and relatively successful author—oh, the doors that have opened to me and thereby allowed me to open doors for others!
6.) My friends and Family (which sometimes includes family and always includes those I’d adopt in a heartbeat as my own).
7.) My drive to step outside my naturally shy and insecure character and push myself to learn more, do more, and be more.
8.) My willingness to take on challenges. Huh, maybe I should reword that as: “My mile-and-a-half-wide stubborn streak.”
9.) My editor and agent (I swear, they’re the best I’ve ever met) and the others before them that saw something in my worthy of being given a chance.
10.) My friends and Family. Seriously—they deserve another spot on my list. <3

How gorgeous is this cover?! I can not wait for it to release. I love this series.

Author Bio:
Gracen is a small town girl who was transplanted to the big city almost ten years ago. She describes herself as a hopeless daydreamer masquerading as a “normal” person in Southern society. When not writing, she’s a full-time basketball/football/guitar mom for her two sons and a devoted wife to her real-life hero-husband. She’s addicted to writing, paranormal romance novels and movies, Alabama football and coffee…addictions are not necessarily in order of priority. She is convinced coffee is nectar from the gods and blending coffee and writing generates the perfect creative merger. Many of her stories are spawned from these coffee highs. And They All Lived Happily Ever After by Crystal Connor blog tour

With seemingly alchemical powers, the stories penned by award-winning author Crystal Connor are amalgamations of horror and science fiction, truth and fable, past and present. Using her ballpoint like a magic wand she inscribes tales of terror that you won’t soon forget.

Crystal belongs to both The Seattle Women’s Writing Group and The Black Science Fiction Society. The Darkness, Crystal’s first full length novel, is a two time Award Winning Finalist in the International Book Awards 2011 fiction categories of Cross Genre Fiction and Multicultural Fiction.

Fourteen short stories of horror, science fiction, and fantasy; 65,306 words of terror by a single author who clearly intends to one day be known as a Master in the genre.

My Review:
I was excited to read this book after I read the synopsis and saw the cover. I wanted to be scared and sitting on the edge of my seat.

This is a book filled with short stories all written by Crystal and I loved how she changed it up in ever story. I felt like I was reading different authors in ever story. Crystal has such a way with words that you get lost in each story. I wish they were longer so I could enjoy the characters longer. I’m not going to tell you about the stories because I don’t think I could without spoilers. I didn’t enjoy every story in this book but I did enjoy half of them and the ones I did I loved.

Crystal is defiantly an author to watch in the Horror genre. She is able to change things up and have you gripping the edge of your seat but it’s not only horror there were times I found myself laughing. I have added Crystal to my buy list. 3/5 Bloody Fangs

Excerpt:
There's a whole host of benefits allotted to those, who, like myself, possess these very specialized sets of skills. One of the benefits is, that afterward, you sleep really good at night and I mean really good. What? Well, it’s true, it’s hard to believe I know, but trust me it’s true. Sam, my uncle, sent me to this exotic land that used to smell of frankincense and myrrh. He sent us there, my brothers-in-arms and me, so that we could become proficient in the art of death. We we’re good at what we did, because now it only smells of gun powder, burnt oil, and death. That's a hellofa predicament you’ve found yourself in, isn't it? Well at least now you know I'm good with a gun and thanks to my Uncle Sam I am also very comfortable with a blade. This ten inch beauty here is a staple, its sharp enough to be use a machete. But this one, with the gut hook, is my all time favorite and I'll show you why here in a minute. Now, I can understand why you broke into my home, these are tough times, and a guys gotta eat I get that. I do. Maybe I would have let you live if you had simply demanded my money and jewels, but, then again, I was never known for being charitable.

Sundowners by Tonia Brown blog tour

Tonia Brown’s short stories have appeared in a variety of anthologies. She has cranked out several books, including The Cold Beneath, Badass Zombie Road Trip, Skin Trade, and the erotic steampunk series Clockworks and Corsets. Tonia lives in North Carolina with her genius husband and an ever fluctuating number of cats. When not writing she raises unicorns and fights crime with her husband under the code names “Dr. Weird and his sexy sidekick Butternut.”

SUNDOWNERS is a backwoods southern horror about the importance of family, the power of gossip and the nature of the artistic muse.

Fifteen years ago, siblings Coil and Cassiopeia suffered an incident in the woods behind their family home. An incident that neither of them can remember in full, that nearly killed Cass and left Coil accused as her abuser, and robbed young Coil of his artistic potential yet boosted his little sister into an almost overnight sensation in the art world. Now, fifteen years later, the self-exiled Coil has been called home to deal with his world famous sister as she suffers from Sundowning; severe and violent personality shifts after the sun sets. In order to cure her, the pair of siblings must come to terms with their old demons, both figuratively and literally. An ancient and terrible horror has risen once more from the backwoods of the family home, and this time it threatens to not only tear their family apart, but also the entire world.

My Review:
The cover alone had me wanting to read this book but when I read the synopsis I was hooked. Add to it that it has been a long time since a book has freaked me out and you have a winning combination.

Coil and Cass suffered a tragic incident 15 years ago. Neither one say they remember what happened but living in a small Southern town gossip ran rapid and made Coil look like he had abused his younger sister. When he was old enough he left and never looked back. Now Cass is suffering from health and mental issues. She is normal during the day but at night she acts possessed and violent forcing her aunt Beth to commit her. Coil comes back to help his sister even though he doesn’t want to. But what happens next is scary and horrifying for the older people in town are suffering from what they call Sundowners but what Coil finds out is much more sinister and only he and Cass can save the town and themselves.

This is so out of my normal reading but I enjoyed it so much. Coil is a normal everyday guy who is running from his past even though he can’t remember one night that changed his life forever. I immediately felt Coil’s anxiety and anger at having to go home again. There is something about him that had me just connected to him from page one. Cass annoyed me through the whole book right up to the end until we find out why she acted the way she did towards her family. I loved the side characters Laura and Aunt Beth just as much. I would have liked to know a little more about them. The side stories are so important to the story even though at first they had me confused but in the end I understood why we were hearing about them.

This is defiantly not a book for the squeamish. This is true Horror writing at its best and Tonia will leave you guessing at ever turn. The way Tonia has at describing some of her scenes left me grossed out and needing a mental break. But I enjoyed being scared every minute. Tonia is defiantly an author to add to your buying list. 4/5 Bloody Fangs

Excerpt:
Naomi eyed the straight razor she’d nipped from Mr. Baxter’s shaving kit. He wouldn’t mind that she used it to cut the donations from the aged, spotted backs, wrinkly thighs and flabby arms of the residents. She reckoned he would be mighty proud to have been so involved. Now it was her turn to make a donation. She still had a few squares left to work into the quilt, but that could wait. This was more important. They all should give their fair share.

She took up the razor and turned it on herself. Naomi cut away her fair share with a few determined slices, not to mention a whole lot of wincing and hissing. Using the corner of the razor, she peeled back the edge of her square, just a bit. She grasped this loose end of flesh and yanked, pulling along the guidelines she had worked into her own calf. The bloody square came away in one piece, then slipped from her trembling fingers with a wet slop to the floor. No bother. A little dirt wouldn’t make it any worse for wear. She planned on washing the whole quilt when she was done anyway.

Lightheaded and nauseated, Naomi picked up her needle and went back to work.

The voice guided her tired hands, assuring her that this was the right thing to do.

For the community.

Guest Post:
What sets your book apart from other books in the horror genre?

I would like to think the understated terror of the book makes it different. In a recent glut of blood, guts and gore, Sundowners is a quiet, creeping kind of horror. The kind of novel where you aren’t really sure who is affected by what is going on, and who is just naturally, balls to the wall crazy. I tried hard to make the horror of Sundowners something that seems so natural to those in the novel, that they have a hard time of putting the pieces together, until of course it’s far too late. As a result, the terror doesn’t reach right out and grab you by the throat. Instead, it slinks in the room and sits quietly beside of you, just at the periphery of your vision, and when you turn your head to see if it’s really there, it vanishes.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a kid’s bedtime story. There are several disturbing themes such as murder, rape, incest and other such nasties, as well as a heaping helping of gore poured between the joints of the main story. Even so, the real terror of the work lies in the nature of madness, and how each character chooses to deal with it. Some stuff their wives via taxidermy, some slaughter their neighbors, and some paint.
Yes, I said paint.
Oh! There’s another thing that is different about this novel. Whereas a lot of writers write about other writers, this one is about a couple of artists. Coil, the main character, is an amateur painter, while his little sister, Cass, is an art world star.  In fact, most of the story is told through art and the act of painting. After years of struggling with a lack of talent when compared with his sister, Coil begins painting stuff in his sleep that puts hers to shame. Why?
Well, you’ll just have to read it to find out.

Cover Reveal for Obtained by Shanora Williams

I am so excited to be participating in the cover reveal for Shanora's book. I love the cover and can't wait for it to release.

Jules Maddox isn’t just some familiar guy that sits at the corner table of the coffee shop and sketches in his sketchbook. No. He’s something much darker and mysterious than that and when Alexandria Marshall—a happy-go-lucky girl that can’t remember a thing about her past—speaks to him, she isn’t surprised to see Mr. Hot/Creep run off quickly without saying a word. That leaves Alexandria with no choice but to wonder what she’s done to make him react that way towards her. She feels as if she knows him but she can’t put her finger on it. And without being able to remember her past, she feels that she will probably never figure it out.

After being assaulted and attacked in an alley of New York, Alexandria figures out that Jules isn’t normal and has a reason to be secretive and mysterious. As Jules fights off her attacker, she witnesses his glowing eyes and fists. And it’s not until Jules is finished that he realizes what he has just done and once again, he runs away without a word.

Alexandria can’t keep Jules off of her mind but when Felix Wells, a rich architect, appears at her door step, everything begins to unravel and reveal itself. She falls for Felix on the first day and when Jules finds out, he isn’t pleased and instead of running off like he usually would, he decides to tell her everything that he knows and what they really are. What Alexandria doesn’t know is that she and Jules are mates and if the “Leaders” find out that she is being drawn in by more than one mate, their lives will be at stake. Jules didn’t want to risk telling her but he refuses to lose her to Felix who is much more dangerous than some rich architect.

Shanora gave me 2 teasers to hold us over until the release.

"I can’t lose you because losing you is like losing myself. I won’t know how to live on . . . I won’t know what to do. Everything for me will be blank. My soul will no longer be intact and we all know that a person without a soul is no one at all."" - OBTAINED. February, 2013.

“Are you upset with me?” Jules asks, smirking.
That completely sets me on edge. Upset with you? I am furious with you! “You were flirting with her in my face, Jules. What the hell is your problem?” I ask, fuming.
He chuckles lightly. “You are jealous,” he points out.
Jealous? Damn it. He’s right. I am jealous and at the thought of it, my cheeks burn even more. He’s embarrassed me, like always.
“You should just leave,” I mutter then fold my arms.
“I really don’t believe my leaving will help you solve anything, Alexandria. Don’t push your problems away. Say what is on your mind.”
Say what is on my mind? He really wants me to go there? Honestly, I don’t think he will ever speak to me again if I really say what is on my mind. “Jules, please just—”
“Do you see how it feels?” he asks, cutting my sentence off with furrowed brows. I mimic his expression by frowning but my glare is a bit confused. “Do you see how it feels when someone you like shows attention to someone else? Do you realize how annoying it is? You saw Felix sometime between last night and this morning and you weren’t even going to tell me.”" - OBTAINED. February, 2013
