Maurene Goo was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where she
navigated her childhood by practicing extreme bossy Lord-dom over her many
cousins. She studied communication at the University of California, San Diego,
and received a master's degree in publishing and writing at Emerson College.

A humorous, debut novel about a
Korean-American teenager who accidentally lands her own column in her high
school newspaper, and proceeds to rant her way through the school year while
struggling to reconcile the traditional Korean values of her parents with
contemporary American culture.
Review:
This is one of those books that was just ok for me. It
didn’t blow me away but I did like it. The pace is good and I think a lot of
teenagers can relate to the story line.
I liked Holly and her best friends and if I was in high
school I could totally see myself hanging out with her. We are both sarcastic
and like her I just didn’t enjoy high school. But there is where we stop in
being a like. At times though I did have issues connecting to her and for me
that is a big deal. I need to connect to the characters or story line for it to
blow mind away. But with that said this book does deal with a lot of things
teenagers are going through in high school and for that reason I will be
passing on my book to my cousin who is around the same age and dealing with a
lot of what Holly is going through.
I did enjoy Maurene’s writing and plan to read more from her
in the future. I hope you give this book a chance cause even though it wasn’t
my favorite I still did enjoy it. 3/5 Bloody Fangs
