Testing Fate Blog tour

Today on my blog I have the Testing Fate tour. On my stop there is a spotlight, review, excerpt, and giveaway.

Nothing burns as bright as the flames of the refiner’s fire.
Moments after hearing the Council sentence her enemy to life imprisonment for attempted murder and illegal use of magic, Darcy is whisked away by the Fates—accused of tampering with destiny. The cherished dream she shared with Mason has been called into question, placing doubt about whether they are actually true mates. To resolve it, a price must be paid—the Heart or Death—a grueling series of tests designed to reveal a person’s worth.
The stakes are high and Darcy finds herself facing the unknown in conditions that leave her more vulnerable than she’s ever been. Separated from Mason and her Pack, with Devlin as her only companion, she is pushed to her very limits. She must succeed—or lose everything.
Will she crumble under the pressure or emerge stronger for testing fate?

Excerpt:
“But, do you truly understand what you’re saying? Are you willing to put Darcy and your Pack through more attempts like Amber’s? Are you willing to fight a challenge with every suitor that comes along?”
“Yes. If that’s what is needed, then I will beat them all!” Mason’s body stiffened with determination and I could only imagine what his wolf was experiencing below the surface. Male werewolves were dominant and extremely territorial. I had no doubt Mason would fight to the death, as many times as he needed to, in order to keep me by his side.
“I am sure you would, young Alpha. But are you willing to have Darcy do that as well? Will you be able to watch her fight to the death? Is your pride worth the risk? Are you willing to test fate?”

Review:

I don’t even know what to say except WOW!!

Testing Fate picks up right where book two left us and if you have read any of Belinda’s books then you know what a rollercoaster ride of emotions she takes us on. And I for one am so glad nobody was home to hear me yell and scream then cry in parts of this book.

I am so obsessed with Mason, Darcy, and Devlin. There is just something about those three. I love them and wait very impatiently for the next book of this series and this one was no different. I say every time I am going to take my time and then I download the book and devour it in one sitting which I did yet again.

I am not going to say much about this book as I know I will give a spoiler or two away as I love this book from page one all the way to the very last word. But I will say that Belinda is known as the Queen of Swoon and Cliffhangers for a reason and this book is no different. If at all possible she has made me fall even more in love with her world and the characters she has created. Now I am left with waiting for the next book.

In Shadows of Magic

Today on my blog I have the In Shadows of Magic tour. On my stop there is a spotlight, review, and giveaway.

Mandy McKinney lives the charmed life. She is beautiful, athletic, popular, dating the hottest jock in school, and certainly doesn't have any time for her loser twin sister. But Mandy also has a secret. When the truth is unveiled, her world is twisted upside down, and her very life is at stake.

Mandy's twin sister, Brianna, has never had any success in the dating department. When Brianna finally meets the guy of her dreams, it turns out that he has secrets of his own. Dangerous secrets. Just her luck.

The twins are about to be swept away into a world of beauty and power beyond their wildest imaginations where nothing is what is seems, danger is lurking in the shadows, and their only chance of survival is finding themselves, and each other, once again.

Review:
It has been a long time since I have read a YA witch book and I’m glad I got the chance to read this one. But there is more to this story than just witchcraft. It’s about family, love, friendship, and self esteem.

We start off meeting Mandy and Brianna who are twins but each live their separately. Where Mandy is beautiful, popular, dating the football player, and exceeds at everything, Brianna plays guitar in a band with her friends. They couldn’t be any different except they both feel jealous of one another and feel each one has it better than the other. Both girls have power but Mandy has more and abuses hers while Brianna only has a spark but everything changes when Brianna’s jealousy gets worse and she steals her sister’s power to make her life better. But both girls find out that life is not always greener on the other side.

The relationship between the girls was strained through most of the book but I was glad when they finally came together and figured out magic doesn’t always make things better. I loved how they came together and helped one another out with the help of some friends. The romance was sweet and I enjoyed watching the girls find the right guys and get the happiness they deserved.

But what I loved most was that it showed the girls learning to find their own strength and learning to love themselves. 4/5 Bloody Fangs

The hunter the bear and the Seventh Sister

Today on my blog I have The Hunter the Bear and the Seventh Sister blog tour. On my stop there is a spotlight and excerpt.

When a beautiful and powerful stranger throws Jackson into the world of Arcas, his predictable Midwestern life instantly vanishes into an all-consuming adventure.

The last kingdoms of Arcas possess enduring youth, beauty, and wealth but have slowly crumbled under the weight of endless apathy and a painful past.

The rising evil of Gurges Ater now threatens to reopen the ancient kingdom pillars created long ago as passageways between Earth and Arcas. With access to both worlds, Gurges Ater will quickly conquer the weak kingdoms and establish his own throne

Can Jackson, along with a paranoid bear, a lone hunter, and the surviving seventh sister work together to protect both Earth and Arcas?

Or will the unlikely heroes allow their own fears, pain, and past to paralyze them as Gurges Ater opens the pillars and claims the throne?

Leave your own world behind, dive through the shimmering portal, and join Jackson to discover the beauty, danger, and adventure awaiting you in the world of Arcas!

Excerpt:

Jackson crouched low, hiding behind Otava’s branches. The river flowed quickly enough that little effort was required to move the wooden canoe forward. The Hunter softly guided them to the middle and occasionally steered away from rocks, branches, or logs obstructing the smooth path forward.
The jungle around them remained still with only the sounds of birds and small, scampering creatures echoing within. It was peaceful and calm, but the companions felt watched, like at any moment some danger would bound out at them from behind the green, leafy shadows. But it was not from within the woods where the dangers truly lay. Danger lurked within the waters where little torrents of ripples slowly penetrated the surface, increasing in size, speed, and number. The canoe gradually began to sway lightly until the front and back end rocked up and down, not in a rhythmic, parallel motion but in a jagged, chaotic tumult as if an ominous war was waging underneath the water, and the heat of the battle was moving up from the deep toward the canoe. The Hunter turned his gaze from the woods and the curvy bend ahead to the waters underneath and then glanced behind him.
     “Hold on!” The Hunter commanded.
“What’s happening?” Jackson gripped the sides of the canoe.
“Ursa Major! I knew I should’ve brought my harpoon!” Otava grabbed a spear instead and searched the water for a target.
Merope was close now. She sprinted out of the tree line onto the shore just behind the increasingly warring waves thrashing onward toward the powerless travelers. By the time she recognized exactly who she was following, it was too late to warn him. As The Hunter stood, facing a beast, Merope cried out—first softly in recognition and then loudly in warning:
     “Rigel? RIGEL!”

B. I. Woolet (Benji & Ila Woolet) is the author of The Hunter, the Bear, and the Seventh Sister, the first book from the World of Arcas series. Red Book Blitz

Today on my blog I have the Red book blitz. On my stop there is a spotlight, excerpt, and giveaway.

Sentenced to be executed.
Betrayed. Alone.
Hung on the gallows.
Rema thought her life was over, but she was wrong.
Saved by a rebel force she’d only ever heard rumors about, Rema finds herself in a forbidden place. She is finally safe—free from the king and Prince Lennek. But not everything is as it seems at the rebel fortress. Secrets are whispered, and loyalties are tested. Once Rema uncovers the truth of her heritage, will she flee? Or will she ascend to the throne, taking on the responsibility of an entire kingdom?
Now that Darmik knows Rema’s true identity, he’s on a quest to save her. But when an Emperion assassin arrives on Greenwood Island, Darmik knows he doesn’t have very long to find her. In a deadly game with high stakes, will Darmik remain loyal to his family? Or will he break away and join the rebels?
Kingdoms rise and fall.
Heroes are born and made.
But one thing remains the same—love conquers all.

Excerpt:
Savenek faced Rema, his skin slightly flushed—whether from physical activity or embarrassment, Rema couldn’t be sure.
“Trust me,” Rema said, “I’d rather have someone else instructing me as well. I don’t particularly want to work with you either.”
“Do you even know anything?” Savenek practically growled.
“Plenty,” Rema seethed. “Probably more than you.” Maybe not with regards to fighting, but she was well educated.
Savenek raised his eyebrows in disbelief, the corners of his mouth turning up. “I sincerely doubt that.”
Rema’s hands went on her hips. “Are you always so arrogant and conceited? Because I’ve had enough with Prince Lennek, and I don’t need it from you too.”
“I’m nothing like him!” he yelled.
“Oh? And you’ve spent time with him like I have?” she yelled right back.
Savenek was at a loss for words. Well that certainly was something. Glancing around, Rema noticed several individuals staring at the two of them.
Lowering her voice, Rema asked, “I assume you have horses here?” Caught off guard by the change in topics, Savenek nodded. “Is there an area where you can ride them?”
“We have an exercise pen and a course we practice on,” Savenek answered.
“Can you race on the course?” Rema’s heart quickened.
            “Yes.”
Didn’t he know her uncle was Kar? And she was raised on a horse farm? She desperately wanted to put him in his place and was eager for the opportunity to do so.
“Why? Do you ride?” Savenek snidely asked.
“Do you?” she countered with a smile.
“Care to find out?” Confidence oozed from him.
“Let’s make a wager. That is, if you’re up for it?” Rema taunted. Her horse wasn’t here, but she’d never been beaten, and she had no intention of letting this smug man be the first.
Savenek turned toward Vesha and the young man she was practicing with. “Vesha, Audek,” Savenek called out to the pair. “We need witnesses.” He waved them over.
Audek rubbed his hands together, smiling. “This should be good.” Standing next to Savenek, Audek was almost as tall as him, but skinnier and all lean muscle. Both men towered over Vesha who was at least a foot shorter.
“I thought Mako told you boys to stop betting, especially after what happened last time,” Vesha said, shaking her head.
Audek laughed out loud, the sound echoing in the room. “Yeah, that was some fun!”
“It wasn’t my idea—it was hers,” Savenek pointed to Rema. “And the bet is between the two of us. Audek has nothing to do with it.”
Audek raised his hand to his heart. “Ah, you wound me. How could you make a bet with another?”
Savenek looked annoyed. “Cut it out, Audek.”
“Will you boys focus,” Rema said, exasperated. “We haven’t even set the terms.”
“Why are the two of you betting?” Vesha asked, fidgeting with the bottom of her tunic.
“Savenek here has been ordered to train me,” Rema said. “Neither of us particularly like the arrangement, but I need to learn to defend myself.” It was only a matter of time until Darmik found her and tried to drag her back to King’s City for execution.
Savenek snorted. “You actually think Prince Lennek would waste his time coming after you? It’s not like he actually loved you, like you were special. You were simply a tool. He was done with you—or hadn’t you gotten the message with your execution order?”
Rema took a step toward Savenek, wanting to tear him apart. She had to force herself to take deep breaths in order to calm down. Lennek wouldn’t be the one coming after her; that would require too much work. It was Darmik she feared would hunt her down. And he certainly had the capability to find her—hidden or not. The only hope she had was being able to defend herself, so she could get away when he came.
Audek whooped and slapped Savenek on the back. “Finally someone that isn’t afraid to challenge you. And it’s a girl! I love it!”
Rema turned to glare to Audek. “Do you want in on the bet?” she asked.
“No,” he laughed. “I’m just here for the entertainment.” Suddenly serious, Audek said, “But I suspect there’s more to you than meets the eye.”
