Today on my blog I have the Living Dead Girl Blog Tour. On my stop there is a spotlight, review, and guest post.
Jen MacLellan has hit a dead end…
Jen knows tattooed, blue-haired Jack Norris is
trouble the minute he opens his front door. And being a mortician in the avante
garde East Side of Providence, Jen has seen a lot. Jack has recruited Jen’s
teenage brother Drew to play drums for his less-than-respectable punk band, and
Jen has no choice but to follow their gigs to keep her little brother out of
trouble. But when Drew goes missing, she finds herself in the awkward position
of asking for Jack’s help. Shocked that he agrees, Jen decides she may have
misjudged him. Worse, she might even like him.
But when Jen is brutally attacked, she awakens
in the hospital where a Sid Vicious look-alike greets her with the news: she’s
dead, and he’s the reaper assigned to take her away. Yeah, not so much.
Refusing to leave, Jen’s spirit watches helplessly as her loved ones suffer,
powerless to ease her family’s grief or prevent the police from accusing Jack
of her murder. Desperate to help them, Jen convinces the reaper to bring her
back. But reanimating corpses isn’t as easy as it looks, and neither is finding
a killer before it’s too late…
Review:
Jen is the responsible and protective older sister of Drew.
She tries to keep him in line and help out at the family business but what she
didn’t expect is to fall in love with the annoying care free blue haired Jack
from the band Drew is in. But everything changes even more for Jen when she
dies and Jack is charged with her murder. Now Jen has to make a deal with Sam
aka the Grim Reaper to come back and protect the ones she loves.
I loved this book so much. Jen is defiantly one of my
favorite characters this year. She has been through so much in her life and
watching her die than fight to come back was an emotional ride. But for me Sam
stole the book. I just loved him.
This was such a well written book. Nessie drew me in from
page one and had me an emotional roller coaster ride. I am really hoping there
will be another book as I want more Sam please. 5/5 Bloody Fangs

After the story, passing notes
with the reaper
Dear Sam,
As I wait for my fate, I just wanted to take the time to
thank you for helping me accomplish what I needed to do before you took me
away. I know what we did was against the rules, and I'm fully prepared to
accept whatever punishment Death decides. I'm sure you're still angry with me,
and I don't really blame you. If there's anything I can do to make this easier,
please tell me.
Sincerely,
Jen MacLellan
My pet,
Angry? I'm not sure that's an accurate term for what I'm
feeling right now. What's laughable, is you've narrated your entire note in
your head while writing, rendering the written product completely useless. I'm
not a little school girl, so I've got no idea why you'd be passing me notes anyway.
-Sam
Ok, no need to be rude. I just wanted to say I'm sorry,
what's with the attitude?
-Jen
Not attitude, just not interested. Ms. Jennifer, it
seems your apology is wasted on me. I have hundreds of years experience, do you
honestly think I didn't know what I was doing? That I somehow cared what
happened to you? I was bored, and this little adventure seemed like the perfect way to pass the time. Yes, you
heard right--boredom. Years and years of collecting souls, filing paperwork,
following protocol. You made a splendid distraction.
Sincerely,
Your Reaper
Bored, huh? You're such a liar. But if that's the game you
wish to play, knock yourself out.
Can't wait to get to know you better,
Jen
Oh, pet, I look forward to it.

Nessie is a Massachusetts native and mother of two who has dabbled in everything from abstract painting to freelance sports reporting. She also loves a good story, whether it’s reading or writing one. Active membership in a writer’s critique group has helped erase the memory of two horribly written practice novels. LIVING DEAD GIRL is her first real novel.
