Dying for a Living Blog Tour

Today on my blog I have the Dying for a Living blog tour. On my stop there is a spotlight, this or that, review, and giveaway.

On the morning before her 67th death, it is business as usual for Jesse Sullivan: meet with the mortician, counsel soon-to-be-dead clients, and have coffee while reading the latest regeneration theory. Jesse dies for a living, literally. As a Necronite, she is one of the population’s rare 2% who can serve as a death replacement agent, dying so others don’t have to. Although each death is different, the result is the same: a life is saved, and Jesse resurrects days later with sore muscles, new scars, and another hole in her memory.

But when Jesse is murdered and becomes the sole suspect in a federal investigation, more than her freedom and sanity are at stake. She must catch the killer herself—or die trying.

Review:

I LOVED this book so much!!! I seriously could not put it down. Even after my kindle died I read on my phone just so I could see what was going to happen next.

There isn’t one thing I didn’t love except that I read it so fast and it was over too soon. Jesse has become my new favorite heroine and I can’t wait for the next book in this exciting new series. Kory creates a new creature called Necronite which is kind of like a zombie but don’t call Jesse that or she will kick your butt and believe she could. She is defiantly a bad ass heroine. I am impatiently waiting on the next book.

I highly recommend this book to everyone! It deserves more than 5 bloody fangs so I am giving it 10/10 Bloody Fangs

The Other Me Book Blast

Today on my blog I have The Other Me Book Blast. On my stop there is a spotlight and giveaway.

Title: The Other Me
Author: Suzanne van Rooyen
Publisher: Harmony Ink Press
Release Date: 19 Dec, 2013
Length: 216 pages
Genre: YA, LGBT, contemporary

SYNOPSIS:

Fifteen-year-old Treasa Prescott thinks she's an alien. She doesn't fit in with the preppy South African private school crowd and feels claustrophobic in her own skin. Treasa is worried she might spend life as a social pariah when she meets Gabriel du Preez. Gabriel plays the piano better than Beethoven, has a black belt in karate, and would look good wearing a garbage bag. Treasa thinks he's perfect. It might even be love, as long as Gabriel doesn't find out she's a freak.

As Treasa spends time with Gabriel, she realizes she might not love him as much as she wants to be him, and that the reason she feels uncomfortable in her skin might have less to do with extra-terrestrial origins and more to do with being born in the wrong body.

But Gabriel is not the perfect boy Treasa imagines. He harbors dark secrets and self-destructive tendencies. Still, Treasa might be able to accept Gabriel's baggage if he can accept who she longs to be.

PRAISE FOR THE OTHER ME:
"The Other Me is a story that will stay with me for a long time. This is what YA should be and Van Rooyen has that uncanny ability to wedge you inside the heads of her characters where you will feel all their pain, love, joy and sorrow. I cannot recommend this book enough if you’re looking for a story that will challenge your preconceptions.” – Nerine, You Gotta Read Reviews

"This book is a great new contemporary read, so different from everything else that's out there, and it is brilliant! Suzanne van Rooyen does a brilliant job of crafting a story that is not only entertaining and engaging, but interesting and unique too.”– Myra, Pieces of Whimsy

"I loved Suzanne Van Rooyen's writing style. It made reading her words so easy. Her characters came across as incredibly real. Add all of that into the uniqueness of the stories subject and The Other Me turned out to be a book that I absolutely loved. So much in fact that I would love to read more of these characters.” – Tracey, YA Book Addict"

A Magic Within Cover Reveal

 photo AMagicWithinCRBanner.jpg
 photo SaraVZook.jpg
About the Author:
Sara V. Zook is a paranormal/fantasy writer. She is the author of the Strange in Skin Trilogy, Clipped and Evanescent, Book 1 in The Sempiternal Series. She lives in Pennsylvania with her 3 small children and husband.
Excerpt from A Magic Within:
“What is that sound?” I asked in a whisper.  It was still far away but growing louder and closer by the minute.
Lydic put his arm behind his back and opened his hand for me to take it.  I slid my fingers into his and waited for him to let me know what to do next.  My heart was pounding out of my chest.  Another second passed and then Lydic turned, his eyes locked on mine as he nodded his head.  We took off to try to outrun whatever it was that was coming for us.  We had only gotten two steps in before I felt Lydic’s grasp on my hand slip away.  I turned around to see what was happening.  I screamed out in horror as Lydic was frozen in place.  He was still on his feet, but his head was drawn back and his eyes rolling into his head as if in extreme pain.
            “Lydic!” I cried out.
The old woman was behind him.  She had that stick, the same one I had tripped over, held up in the air and aimed at Lydic’s head.  There were bright colors, green and yellow, pouring out from the end of the stick and going directly into his skull.  The woman’s expression was one of determination.  Her eyes were closed and her lips pressed together as she mumbled something I couldn’t understand.
What are you going to do?  Panic seized me.  Lydic was supposed to help me, not the other way around.  I didn’t know what to do.  I had to stop this, but how?
The high-pitched whistling grew louder and more intense.  It was starting to hurt my ears.  My gut told me that if I didn’t make a move now, it was going to be too late.
I took a step toward the stick and reached out and grabbed it with my hand.  I used all the strength I had to yank it from the grasp of the old woman.  Lydic fell to his knees.  The woman glared at me, a low growl escaping from her throat.  She lunged toward me.  Without having time to think, I instinctively swung the large stick at her, using it as a bat and she was the ball.  It collided with her head making a grotesque sound.  She collapsed to the ground.  Lydic looked up at me.  I was breathing hard, trying to understand what had just happened.
“What do we do?” I asked.  The whistling noise was almost to us, but I still couldn’t see anything.
Lydic glanced over his shoulder at the woman.  “Run!”

Someone took what is his and he’ll stop at nothing to get her back.
Dylan Kellerman is lost. The love of his life has been ripped from him, leaving a tattered tortured shell of a man. On the brink of murderous insanity he must battle to find Shannon, even if she hates him. Dylan has betrayed her and he knows she won’t forgive his indiscretions. None of that matters now. All that matters is finding her. As long as she’s safe Dylan can continue to live a sad wasted existence without her by his side. Shannon brought Dylan back to life, without her in the world he’ll cease to exist.
Shannon Kelly is gone. Stolen from her home and loved ones, she must now fight. Fighting has never been an issue for her, but this is a new opponent that she isn’t prepared for…her past. When every reality she thought she knew is called into question, Shannon learns her life isn’t what she thought it was. Stolen Gifts Blog Tour

I am so excited to have the Stolen Gifts Blog Tour on my blog today. I loved this book so much and I can't wait for the next book to come out. On my stop there is a spotlight, review, excerpt, and giveaway.

Having a Gift is hard.  Keeping the ability to read and manipulate minds a secret from family and friends is torture.

Vanessa (Van) Lyons is terrified of her very powerful Gift of Mind, and has been hiding it from her family since she was a child.  Her Gift troubled her so much that she moved away from everything and everyone she knew to avoid the possibility of the truth being discovered.  She’s stayed away for a long time, making excuses for staying put in her charming little cottage in a small town far enough away to be a comfortable buffer.  But an invitation to the wedding of her childhood best friend Kelley brings her back home…and forces her to confront all of her fears and emotions.  It also forces her to be face-to-face with the man she has loved since they were young.
Caine Moore is a handsome journalist with a playboy reputation.  Seen frequently about town or in the tabloid pages with a different beautiful woman on his arm, he has become a completely different man from the boy Van grew up with.  Tension builds between them as he sends Van mixed messages throughout the pre-wedding festivities, confusing her and making her yearn for things she’s spent a long time convincing herself she could never have.
Caine has been working on a story, and has seen things he shouldn’t see.  In his desire to protect Van, he inadvertently pulls her into an intriguing but deadly case that puts her right into the killer’s path…

Excerpt:
My Gift is a part of me. It lays dormant, wanting to be used and I have deprived myself for so many years. On the rare occasions when my control slips, and I use it, I feel whole. Denying it for so long was splitting my soul into two. I realized that I would have to learn a new kind of control. Instead of complete dismissal, I would have to use it on occasion to keep my mind and soul intact.

As the guard approached the door for our prison, I placed a Suggestion in his mind that he would believe what I told him. I wasn't changing the way he behaved, just what he was going to perceive at the moment. He opened the door and stood in the archway.

Review:
What a unique fresh spin in the paranormal genre. I was hooked from page one until the very last page. My only complaint is I read it too quickly and now I want the next book as the ending left me wanting more.

There are two types of people in this book, ones who are born with gifts and ones who are not. Van comes from a gifted family but they believe she doesn't have one. However she has a very strong gift. The gift of mind and it terrifies her so much that she never uses it and leads people to believe she is a normal person. It also helps that she has moved away from her family and friends to make a new life for herself. However with her child hood best friend getting married Van is forced to go home and face everything and everyone she has fled from including the love of her life Caine. But when gifted people start disappearing Van, Caine, and her brother start looking into it and in the process Van and Caine are kidnapped. She has to make the choice to use her gift to help them escape but in doing so she is forced to reveal her biggest lie to everyone she loves.

I absolutely loved this book. I was hooked from the very first page and read it in one sitting. Van and Caine have become two of my favorite characters I have read this year. Not to mention Caine is my new book boyfriend. He is totally swoon worthy. Even when he was being stubborn but Van was just as hard headed and it did make me want to smack them both to make them realize how perfect for one another they are.

The ending is my only issue with this book as it ends with a cliff hanger and I have a love/hate relationship with those. I am hoping that Rasha writes quicker so I can have more Van and Caine this year.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a kick ass heroine, swoon worthy heroes, and a refreshing twist in the paranormal genre. 5/5 Bloody Fangs
