16 Things I Thought Were True Blog Tour

Today on my blog I have the 16 Things I Thought Were True Blog Tour. On my stop there is a spotlight, review, and giveaway.

Heart attacks happen to other people #thingsIthoughtweretrue

When Morgan’s mom gets sick, it’s hard not to panic. Without her mother, she would have no one—until she finds out the dad who walked out on her as a baby isn’t as far away as she thought…

Adam is a stuck-up, uptight jerk #thingsIthoughtweretrue

Now that they have a summer job together, Morgan’s getting to know the real Adam, and he’s actually pretty sweet…in a nerdy-hot kind of way. He even offers to go with her to find her dad. Road trip, anyone?

5000 Twitter followers are all the friends I need #thingsIthoughtweretrue

With Adam in the back seat, a hyper chatterbox named Amy behind the wheel, and plenty of Cheetos to fuel their trip, Morgan feels ready for anything. She’s not expecting a flat tire, a missed ferry, a fake girlfriend…and that these two people she barely knew before the summer started will become the people she can’t imagine living without.

Review:

Morgan is not having the best summer. She is working at a theme park, her boss is a jerk or so she thinks, her coworker Amy is annoying and talks all the time. The only thing Morgan is excited for is getting 5,000 twitter followers. She feels when she hits that number something good will happen. But than she gets a text from her brother saying mom is in the hospital come quick. Morgan can’t even think to drive so her boss Adam says he will drive her. He does a really good job at keeping Morgan calm on the ride to the hospital and that surprised me how well he handled the situation. When Morgan gets there she finds out her mom has something wrong with her heart which worries her and has her thinking she will die, leaving Morgan all alone as she doesn’t know her dad. But while her mom is in the hospital she starts to tell Morgan that her dad is in fact alive and tells her his name. This news has Morgan feeling confused and angry at her mom for holding this from her. Morgan decides to go on a road trip to meet the father she has never met. Her annoying coworker Amy volunteers to drive her and her boss Adam decides to crash the trip and come along. Morgan is not happy about doing this with Amy and Adam but before the summer is up Morgan will realize that there is more to life than twitter and that having real friends is something she can’t live without.

This is the second book I have read from Janet and I have enjoyed this one just as much as the first book. I didn’t really like Morgan at the beginning of the book but after finding out some things about her I understood her better. The characters and story line all work well together.

As the story goes we really see a lot of growth from Morgan. She goes through so much and she handles it well. I loved how the relationship with Adam grows through the book. He is defiantly a good guy and helps Morgan out quite a bit. Amy got on my nerves a little but she is really sweet and when she offered to drive Morgan I was touched by that since she really didn’t know Morgan all that well.

Through family issues, insecurities, friendship, love, and finally accepting yourself 16 Things I Thought Were True is a great book and highly recommend it. 4/5 Bloody Fangs

Janet lives near the Canadian Rockies with her husband and son and a little dog named Bruce. She does not live in an Igloo or play hockey, but she does love maple syrup and says “eh” a lot.

Janet only gives 5 stars to the books she reviews because she is an author herself and knows that no book can appeal to everyone, but like a child, it is very special to the creator.

I’M NOT HER was published by Sourcebooks Teen Fire in May 2011.

IF I TELL released Oct 1, 2011 from Sourcebooks Teen Fire.

WHO I KISSED Sourcebooks Fire 2012.

Janet’s work will also appear in the THE FIRST TIME anthology, DEAR TEEN ME anthology and WHO DONE IT anthology.
