My Review:

This book is not what I expected after reading the synopsis but with that said the author handles the subject of sexual assault well.

Tabitha’s life gets turned upside down one night at a party where she is sexually assaulted. After moving to a new town and starting at a new college Tabby vows to take her life back by being the one in control. She sets out to have a one night stand on her terms to show she isn’t damaged and can move one with her life and be normal. She meets Noah at a bar and selects him as her guy for the night but things don’t go as planned and when Tabby tries to back out, Noah finds a way not only into her life but her heart as well. But the one secret she is so desperate to keep from him he finds out. Now the one person Tabitha needs the most might be the one to walk away after learning of her dark secret.

I was really surprised reading this book. I didn’t think I would get as emotional as I did. I connected to Tabitha on such a strong personal level even though I have never gone through what she did in the book. But Clare writes her heroine so well that we can feel every emotion from Tabby right along with her from her fear, anger, desperation, love, and finally acceptance of everything that happened to her. Noah is such a strong character as well. From the moment he came into the book there was just something about him that made me love him instantly. He is so good with Tabby trying to help her through her issue even when he doesn’t know why she pulls away and needs the control. I really loved the connection with all the characters but what made this book so good for me was seeing how Tabitha gets back what she lost that night and it’s something we all need which is love ourselves first and to know we are worth loving.
