Today on my blog I have the Flicker & Burn tour. On my stop there is a spotlight, tens list, review, and giveaway.
T.M. Goeglein began his career as a
writer of print and television ads for a host of advertising and media
companies. As a screenwriter, he created both original scripts and worked as a
script doctor for several production companies in Los Angeles. He was an
original contributor to the Huffington Post 'Living' section, and continues to
write for both the national edition and Huffington Post Chicago. Read T.M.
Goeglein's stories on the Huffington Post.
His debut young adult novel, COLD FURY, will be
published by Penguin/Putnam in 2012 and is the first in a trilogy; he’s
currently working on the second book. He lives in Chicago with his wife, Laura,
and two young children.
Stalker Links:
Sara Jane Rispoli is still searching for her missing family, but instead
of fighting off a turncoat uncle and crooked cops, this time she finds herself
on the run from creepy beings with red, pulsing eyes and pale white
skin chasing her through the streets in ice cream trucks; they can
only be described as Ice Cream Creatures.
They're terrifying and hell bent on killing her, but
they're also a link to her family, a clue to where they might be and who
has them.
While she battles these new pursuers, she's also discovering more about
her own cold fury and more about the Chicago Outfit, how the past
misdeeds--old murders and vendettas--might just be connected to her
present and the disappearance of her family. But connecting the dots is tough
and time-consuming and may finally be the undoing of her relationship with the
handsome Max--who's now her boyfriend. But for his own safety, Sara Jane may
have to end this relationship before it even really starts.
Her pursuers who've shown her her mother's amputated finger and the
head of the Chicago Outfit who's just whistled her in for a sit-down make a
romance unthinkable. The only thing that matters is finding her family and
keeping everyone she loves alive.
Review:
I am hooked on this series. I loved it from page one all the
way to the last page and I still want more of this world that T.M. has created.
Sarah is still trying to find her kidnapped family. Add to
that she has pale faced red eyed creatures chasing after her in ice cream
trucks no less. Oh and she has to start her junior of high school like nothing
is going on all the while she gets deeper in the Chicago Mob scene and finding
more information on her cold fury. Will she able to find her family in time
before the mob closes in on her and stay away from the ice cream creatures?
You’ll have to read Flicker & Burn to find out since I don’t do spoilers.
Sarah is defiantly become one of my favorite characters this
year. She is so strong and I can’t even imagine going through everything she is
at the age of sixteen. From running from red eye creatures, trying to find her family,
and keep up the family business of being the mediator for the disputes between
the muscle and the money I couldn’t do it. I can not wait for the next book to
see what happens in this action packed, amazing page turning book. 4/5 Bloody
Fangs
Tens List:
Your favorite guy/girls characters from
your books, including random facts about them.
Doug Stuffins, Sara Jane’s best friend.
He’s tough and funny, and loves movies. Random fact: Doug is scared to admit
he’s gay, not because of what people will think about him, but because he’s not
sure how it makes him feel about himself.
Poor Kevin, the masked freak. He’s
driven to violent extremes by an insane hatred of Sara Jane’s family. Random
fact: A Rispoli ‘R’ is burned into Poor Kevin’s disfigured face.
Gina Pettagola, Sara Jane’s super-gossipy
semi-friend. Random fact: Gina had a nose job along with her sister, and
you’d better not tell anyone!
Max Kissberg, Sara Jane’s boyfriend (sort
of.) He’s patient with Sara Jane, even though she’s obviously withholding
facts about her life. Random fact: Max is old school, a guy who knows how to
take apart and fix his vintage Triumph motorcycle.
Elzy, Sara Jane’s nemesis. She’s
desperately trying to get her hands on Sara Jane and the old notebook. Random
fact: Elzy loves Frank Sinatra more than anyone in the world…except her
brother, Poor Kevin.
Lou Rispoli, Sara Jane’s younger brother.
He disappeared along with their mom and dad. Random fact: Lou rescued a small,
Italian greyhound, Harry, from the pound; in turn, Harry becomes a partner to
Sara Jane in trying to rescue her family.
Teardrop, an Ice Cream Creature. It’s
unclear whether Teardrop is a guy or girl, but obvious that it wants to do harm
to Sara Jane. Random fact: Teardrop’s memory has been wiped clean by the
insidious drug, Sec-C.
Heather Richards, Sara Jane’s long-lost
cousin. She’s gorgeous and popular but increasingly suspicious of Sara
Jane’s secretive nature. Random fact: she was the original ‘Becky’ on the TV
show Two Cool for School.
Juan Kone, the evil mastermind behind Sec-C,
and Sara Jane’s newest enemy. Juan is determined to mine Sara Jane’s blood
and brain for the secret to cold fury. Random fact: Juan’s grandfather was the
cagy mobster, Irving ‘Ice Cream’ Cohen.
Sara Jane Rispoli, the heroine of the COLD
FURY trilogy, including book II, FLICKER & BURN. Sara Jane is committed
to finding and saving her family, no matter what she has to do or whom she has
to hurt to do it. Random fact: she started boxing at age six because ballet was
boring, boring, boring.
