13 Days of Halloween

Today on my blog for my 13 Days of Halloween is one of my favorite authors JD Nelson. I just adore her and her books. So let's get started.

For my contribution to Sabrina's Paranormal Palace's 13 Day of Halloween, I decided to talk about some of my favorite Stephen King books...because nothing is scarier than Stephen King's books!

Up first...

Insomnia

This may not be the most gruesome of his books, but it's probably the scariest thing I’ve ever read. Death is scary. Really scary. And when little bald doctors are running around snipping people's lifelines, it's terrifying! If you haven't read this book, READ IT!

Atropos (The Random Killer of the Little Bald Doctors)

Next up...

The Shining

Okay, I'll be honest, The Shining book wasn't nearly as scary to me as the Stanley Kubrick’s film. I mean, come on, I’m a twin and this even scares me.

That being said, the thought of someone you love going mad and chasing to to your death is too realistic not to be afraid of it. That could really happen!!!

This next one needs no introduction...

It

Holy. Shit.

This one is a toughie for me. The book was scary and detailed in a way that truly was more frightening than the movie, but...uh, Tim Curry. He catapulted this film into everyone's worst nightmares. I'm having trouble just looking at the gif!

Up next we have...

The Tommyknockers

Aliens…need I say more? There is very little that freaks me out more than the thought of something being "out there". My mom and I saw a blue lit, circular UFO when I was teenager, and a couple years later, my best friend, me and two sailors we picked up at Mardi Gras (try not to focus on that too much...lol) were traveling down a lonely country road in Alabama, and this bright, flashing sphere seemed to be traveling next to the car. To say we were freaked out is an understatement! We slammed on brakes and the sphere kept traveling the way it was going.
I like to chalk it up to be some government conspiracy since we were close to an Air Force base, but there is this thought in the back of my mind that's screaming, "What if it was a real alien?"

And then there's...

Carrie

This is another example of the book being slightly less scary than the movie. Telekinesis can be scary, but I think we can all agree that the end where she dreams Carrie is reaching out of the grave to grab her was the scariest part of the movie!

And this one...

The Stand

This may be the longest book I've ever read. So. Damn. Worth. It. I'm not a huge fan of post-apocalyptic themes, however, this book will always be a favorite of mine. The fight between good and evil, hell, the depictions of good and evil are legendary. I consider this to be King's masterpiece. Could you imagine 99.4% of the population dying?

Most realistic horror book ever...

Cujo

Scared of dogs? Well, you will be!

One word...Gage...

Pet Semetary

Undead kids. Undead cats. Ghostly dreams. So. Much. Nope.

Well, there you have it! Thanks for reading and a huge thanks to Sabrina for having me!!!

She now lives in Central Valley, California with her amazingly supportive husband and four cats who think they're dogs.

All jokes aside, JD is a boringly normal person who thinks that coffee pretty much fixes everything ... as long as it's before 6:30AM and the planet Mars is in retrograde. When she's not spending time with her sexy Swedish husband, you can find her writing, reading, or on her commute to her day job where she wrangles paint onto canvas for the entertainment industry.

13 Days of Halloween: Day 3

Today on Day 3 of my 13 Days of Halloween I have one of my favorite bloggers/friends Anna Dase from Read Between The Lines or RBTL for short. So let's get started a nd learn more about her blog, favorite halloween memory, and her top ten list.

I am an avid reader from Pennsylvania. My name is Anna (A.K.A. Bookworm by most of my friends and family) and I am a book reading, book buying, and book loving person! My belief people who do not read are truly missing out on something wonderful. Reading broadens your mind! My goal is to share my love of reading with the world one book at a time. If there is a good book out there, I will find it and share it with you.  I have had a love of reading since I was a little girl and my love of books has not changed. I am often told by friends and loved ones (especially my husband) that I live in a library (but it is also said friends and loved ones that help me feed my addiction for they continue to buy me books) which is fine by me. I started blogging to share my love of reading with everyone. So I hope you will grab a drink, sit back and join me on this journey of discovering new and amazing books. There is nothing like sitting down with a hot cup of tea (which is my choice of beverage) and a book to read.

13 Days of Halloween: Day 2

It's Day 2 of my 13 Days of Halloween celebration and today I have author Ellie Potts who I just adore. So let's get started and learn more about Ellie and her books along with top ten scary movies.

I am releasing the first book in my Mad World series called Island of the Zombie King this month.

Blurb:
**Mature 18+ for explicit adult situations. Dark Erotic Science Fiction/Horror. Contains graphic scenes of violence

Survive…
That had been three years ago. Now on an island off the coast of California a group of random people are doing just that surviving. You might be able to call it a utopia, as the world they knew is over run by flesh eating monsters. It looked like life was getting back to normal, or so they thought. Brian, has plans, which includes more than ruling the island he wants to rule the world and he might know how to do it. It is up to Ben, Kiley, and Ted who know the secret, and together they will have to stop Brian before he destroys their new home.

Welcome to Island of the Zombie King. Book 1 in the Mad World Series.

I am looking for serious book reviewers if interested email me eclecticellie@gmail.com and I will gift you the book. I am also looking for anyone interested in reviewing my other books as well.

Favorite Halloween Memory:
I love Halloween more than any other holiday. I have been a lot of characters from clowns to zombies. I remember in elementary school we would have a small parade. And I knew I was going to be the most badass dead biker ever, and I was. But it RAINED! So we couldn’t do the parade. I was so disappointed. We went to the rich houses that year, who gave out large candy bars and left candy outside unattended, and over at the base housing there was a guy up on his roof wailing on his guitar freaking out my younger sister.

So I am going to share my top ten Horror Movies. Before we start I am a horror movie fanatic. A few years ago me and a friend went and pushed our boundaries on watching and finding some of the craziest horror movies. Some have made the list, while you’ll see some great classics.

Top Ten List:
Horror Movies

1.      Day of the Dead the original by George A Romero. I love Bub the Zombie and then the epic line ‘Choke on ‘em!’.

2.      Nightmare on Elm Street original. Scary Freddy, and young Johnny Depp.

3.      Inside-French movie-Crazy movie. You need to have a strong stomach to get through it. Most mothers might not be able to make it through. I am not even sure I could watch it again. Which is why it is a top ten.

4.      Critters 2- Critters 1 was okay but it’s the Easter bunny scene that really got me.

5.      The Hills Have Eyes and The Evil Dead Remakes- OMG

6.      Dead Alive (Peter Jackson’s zombie movie) this is gross and funny, come on rat monkey and zombie baby.

7.      Slither-Love James Gunn and Slither has an awesome cast.

8.      Event Horizon- Space is scary shit.

9.      The Feast series. This has gore, dark comedy and more gore, plus monsters!

10.   Rabid-Cronenberg makes amazing movies btw.

Also Notable movies are Poltergeist, Zombi, Teeth (Vigina teeth!), Diary of the Dead, Night of the Creeps, Night of the Comet, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, The remake of Dawn of the DeadPlanet Terror and From Dusk til Dawn.

Somebody told Ellie Potts you had to be rich to be eccentric otherwise you were plain crazy. She set out to prove them wrong doing things she was told she couldn't do like dressing for pirate and renaissance faires, get her stories published, playing video games, planning to survive a zombie apocalypse, and other antics most women stay away from.

She is also a Whovian, Browncoat, Star Wars addict, and collector of arcane knowledge. Now she lives in California's Central Valley where most of her stories and books take place. Her and her husband are owned by their attack Bugg.

When Jason catches a glimpse of his new neighbor on moving day, his libido ignites and his fascination in piqued. He even manages to concoct an excuse to go over and meet the man who makes him hope and want for more than he has in years.
Keith Skyler is a shifter in a world where his kind is known to only a few, but they don’t often mix and they never mate. Keith has been hoping for a mate since before he can remember, but gay lynx don’t have true mates. As far as he knows, they don’t have mates at all. However, while moving his little family across Seattle—and away from their tribe—his reality tips and spins more than he thought possible.

When these two men meet over a dish of five-cheese broccoli-noodle casserole, sparks fly. Who knew a welcome to the neighborhood gift could give both of them their chance at love?
Excerpt:
“It’s wonderful you thought to schedule a slumber party for Taylor—” He just hoped she didn’t kill him for his comment. “—maybe I should call one of the guys and crash over at their place for the night?” Or three.
The sputtering on the other end of the line made Keith smile. His father hated when he didn’t do as he was told, but being in his father’s home as Adam threw women at him was not his idea of fun. “You will be here as soon as you arrive back home. You will present yourself with a smile on, clean, neat, and as close to happy as you can manage. You only have a few years before you take over as alpha, yet you still haven’t settled down. Don’t have an heir. Aren’t even seeing anyone.” Well, the man was wrong on the last two. He had an heir, through his sister: Zeke. And he was dating; Jason had agreed to start seeing him. They planned to spend the whole weekend together, in fact.
“Father—”
“Now,” his father demanded.
“I’m always charming and polite when you do this to me, but throwing big-boobed airheads at me is not the way to endear me to your wishes. I have no interest in mating until I find the other half of my soul. You know that.” And it will be a male that completes me, but we won’t mention that part yet….
“Such a childish attitude, Keith. Most shifters do not have fated mates, as you know, so waiting for someone who most likely doesn’t exist is asinine. Besides, as the heir, you are responsible for having children. You must have an heir! The Skyler line will not die out because you want to be too picky.”
“I will attend. I will talk to the women you picked out. However, I will not take any but my mate home with me. See you shortly, Father.”
Not waiting for a response, he clicked off the call and tossed his cell onto the seat beside him. Keith had to pull over a few minutes later when he realized he was shaking. He didn’t want the police to notice his weaving or distraction, nor did he enjoy the idea of wrecking his car. He loved his Shelby GT. He’d restored it from the junkyard he’d found it in back in high school. If it were up to him, it would be the only car he would ever drive. Eh, that or Taylor’s truck. His father’s heavy-handed manipulations were driving him crazy. He’d hated when his alpha tried to fix him up, but now that he’d found Jason, the idea made him ill to even consider.
It took him a little while, but he got himself under control—not that his cat was helping. No, he wanted to go back to Jason and claim his mate properly. He didn't see why they had to wait. Once he was calmer, Keith entered the roadway again, and too soon for his liking, he pulled up in front of his father’s house. Before he’d so much as gotten the car door open, Taylor was there, waiting with her open arms and loving personality ready to wrap around him.
“I didn’t know about the fems ambush until just a little bit ago. I’m so sorry, Keith,” she whispered as she hugged him. “This batch has a few that aren’t the vapid, big-boobed wonders he usually finds you, at least.”
He knew she was trying to make him feel better, but the thought of any female, especially now, made his skin crawl and his cat want out. “Vapid or not, they aren’t my mate, Tay. It feels disloyal to even go in and pretend.”
“I get that, but unless you want to explain who your mate is tonight, which I don’t advise, then playing nice is the right choice. It’s not like you have to make out with them or anything. Just chat, be dull and boring, and escape as soon as possible.”
“I wish it were that easy. But I’ll be good, no matter how much I don’t want to.”
“I know, but you won’t have to put up with this very long tonight, and the gathering is tomorrow night, then you can escape. I can’t leave ’til this weekend,” she added, her bottom lip puffed out far enough to make many five-year-olds green with envy—especially hers.
“You’re going to love living there, Taylor. The trees are great, and I’ve already found areas that are flush with hares to hunt. I can’t wait to show you and Zeke.”
“Can’t wait to get there too,” she squealed. “But for now, go play nice prince and smile for the grumpy old cat in there.”
“Yeah, that makes me want to go right in. Oh yeah, no it doesn’t. But if we stay out here much longer, he’ll come out looking for me.” Swallowing hard and pasting on a smile, Keith followed Taylor into the house. The cloying scents of many perfumes attacked his nose before he’d gotten any farther than the entrance.
“How can you breathe in here?” he grumbled but made his way farther into the house to meet with his father’s newest batch of ever-hopefuls. Reminding himself that he’d get to spend the entire weekend with Jason helped him make it into the living room and beyond.
