"Hey, sleeping beauty!" Jarron blurted to rouse
Caleb out of a nap.
Caleb was comfortably leaned back in a chair and kept his
eyes closed, greeting Jarron with a standing salute of his middle finger.
"Why are you bothering me?" Caleb asked, still pretending
disinterest.
"Sirius know you're sleeping on the job?" Jarron
quipped.
"I wasn't sleeping. I was meditating," He smiled,
recalling the dream that was so rudely interrupted. "Besides, there's
nothing going on. It's been quiet." Caleb finally opened his eyes to look
at Jarron. "What have you been up to?"
"Training," Jarron answered with a smile.
"Where's Sirius?"
"Level 3 with Anya. Says he's got more research to
do." Caleb stretched his arms over his head and let out a hearty yawn.
"He should have been back by now. What do you have him working on?"
"He went scouting with Anya and found some things that
have him spooked."
Caleb propped his feet on the table and quickly looked at
the monitors to make sure things were still quiet.
"Before Baja, the demon attacks were getting more
intense. A lot more Great Demons showing up. New demons we haven't encountered
before."
Caleb shrugged. "We get attacked all the time. We
suffer injuries. It's part of the calling."
"There's something different. It's in the air. I can
feel it."
"So what's Sirius looking into?" Caleb didn't want
to admit he felt the same way. That he was worried. That even though there was
little to no activity, there was change happening in the city. He couldn't
explain it, but the thoughts from the city that he often picked up on were
different, veiled somehow, like his reception was being interrupted.
Jarron walked over to the conference table and opened a
folder with stacks of surveillance pictures inside. He chose one from the
stack, handing a 5 x 7 picture to Caleb. A red circle clearly marked a
dark-haired man standing in the middle of a crowd, his gaze seeming to look off
in the distance. It was Will.
Caleb dropped his feet from the table and sat up in his
seat. He stared at the picture. He had given his word to Isabel that he would
not reveal his knowledge about Will's presence. She had good reason to hold
off, but if Jarron and Sirius were already tailing the guy, it would only be a
matter of time before they figured out who he was.

Jarron loves to
wind down with a tall glass of gin and tonic with lots of ice. He normally runs
hot and he finds the tonic water cooling and soothing--especially with the
lime. Plus, it's simple and easy to make.
Ellie loves Pina
Coladas. They remind her of her mom. They were here mom's favorite and one of
the last drinks they shared during one of their travels… before her mom
disappeared
Isabel is classy
and sophisticated and being the leader of The Order, she reserves her drinking
during special occasions. For those few special moments, Isabel indulges with a
champagne cocktail, made with her favorite champagne from France--Veuve
Clicquot La Grande Dame.
Sirius is The
Order's genius tech guy. He's a warrior too, but no one can handle the Control
Room like he can. That means, lots of late nights gathering data and watching
surveillance. He loves coffee and when
he needs a little more punch, it's as simple as adding Kahlua to his coffee and
blasting the speakers with some deep house music and he can work all night.
Will loves a good
sipping tequila. He used to live in Mexico and he would walk to a nearby market
after work to buy some. It didn't need
anything else, no salt, no lime, just plain and he would savor it. That was
what the storekeeper had told him. "Savor it. Let it coat your
tongue." They would each enjoy a glass before the storekeeper would send him
on his way.
Ash (Ashtaroth)
enjoys blood orange and cranberry juice with vodka. Being a demon the alcohol
really doesn't do much (if anything) for her, but she loves the deep ruby jewel
tone of the drink. It reminds her of the rare and priceless bloodstones that
come from her realm.
